Paul Takunda Chiwona, born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and based in Vienna, Austria, is a media artist and cultural researcher whose practice operates at the intersection of artmaking, research, and social justice.
By examining the links between digital culture, capitalism, and colonialism, Paul Takunda’s work critically engages the tensions that define contemporary networked societies. After studying Media and Communications Design in Stuttgart, he moved to Austria and studied Social Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he completed his thesis Humans Did This, an investigation of digital artifacts and their ontologies. During his studies, Paul worked as a graphic designer, copywriter, and award-winning concepter for various creative agencies.
He is currently pursuing a PhD in Arts x Science: Transformation Studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Johannes Kepler University Linz.
