This work confronts a personal online archive devoted to Rhodesia, the former British colony that is now Zimbabwe. The archive circulates nostalgic texts, racist narratives, and images that romanticize and normalize a lost colonial order. 159 unique images have been forcibly extracted from the site, organized on thermal paper, and partially burned. Recorded on this autodestructive canvas, the archive’s visual logics and the worldview it tries to preserve are exposed to material decay. What memories can we not afford to burn? What must be destroyed?
